I've always been passionate about math, logic and problem solving, but my passion for software engineering began when I was working as an editor and post-production specialist in Hollywood. I was often troubleshooting and researching solutions to errors, when using DaVinci Resolve and the Adobe Suite for rendering DCP’s (digital cinema packages). Solving these problems turned out to be the most interesting part of my job. I started teaching myself Javascript and writing algorithms for fun. I quickly realized that I wanted to make a career out of programming, so for the past 8 months I’ve been eagerly learning and practicing creating applications with frameworks such as the MERN stack, GraphQL, Docker, among others.

I designed a full stack clone of Instagram with a React / Redux / Jbuilder frontend and Ruby on Rails backend, using Postgres for the database and AWS for uploading and storing images. The site has secure user authentication and full functionality. Over the past month, I’ve enjoyed optimizing my app, and improving responsiveness for better UX.
